According to Football Insider, West Ham United and GSB have ‘set sights on signing’ Aston Villa defender Kortney Hause for David Moyes.
The Lowdown: West Ham in defender hunt…
Over this past fortnight, West Ham have reportedly been prioritising moves for a new defender as Moyes seems short of options in central defence.
The departure of Fabian Balbuena has left just Angelo Ogbonna, Issa Diop and Craig Dawson as senior centre-back options for West Ham, motivating the Irons to enter talks for both Nikola Milenkovic and Kurt Zouma.
Football Insider have now brought news of another defensive target for West Ham as Moyes casts his net far and wide.
The Latest: GSB ‘set sights on signing’ Hause…
As per the outlet, GSB have ‘set sights on signing’ Hause for West Ham as the club prioritise landing a new centre-half.
An Irons source told Football Insider that the 26-year-old has now been added to their list of targets amid indications that he could be made available this summer.
Hause has ‘slipped to fourth’ in Villa’s centre-back pecking order, leading to speculation that he could be offloaded, especially after the loan signing of Axel Tuanzebe from Man United.
The Verdict: Solid option?
Standing at a lofty 1.91m (6 foot 3), the defender appears to have the ideal physicality to succeed in the Premier League, but his inexperience could be the rock on which any such deal might perish.
He won an incredible 5.6 aerial duels per game last season, with only Tomas Soucek winning more when compared to West Ham’s squad in 2020/21 (WhoScored). However, this was over just seven Premier League starts under Villans boss Dean Smith.
West Ham and Moyes could need a defensive figure who has played slightly more consistently over the last few months.
