Speaking to talkSPORT, transfer insider Alex Crook has dropped a ‘behind the scenes’ claim that West Ham have been working on a ‘potential deal’ for Bournemouth striker Joshua King over several weeks – whilst explaining that manager David Moyes is ‘very keen’ on the move.
King, who is reportedly the most likely striker to make a London Stadium move according to fellow source ExWHUemployee, apparently wants to join West Ham and he is ‘desperate’ to secure the move.
Should West Ham sign Joshua King?
No can do better
Crook, speaking to talkSPORT, has claimed that GSB and Moyes have been working on a ‘potential deal’ behind the scenes with both the club and King allegedly eager to make the transfer happen.
West Ham working on King deal
Due to the consistent fitness issues plaguing Michail Antonio, along with the polarising form of Sebastien Haller, West Ham reportedly want to sign a good value back up striker during this window.
King has now emerged as the top target, with Crook explaining what he knows.
“I know David Moyes is still very keen to sign Josh King, having had a £13million bid rejected by Bournemouth in the summer,” explained the insider.
“King also is desperate to move to the London Stadium.
“I spoke to Moyes at Southampton last night and he says he would be keen to do business in this transfer window, but admitted there could well be some financial restraints in place.
“I know West Ham have been busy beavering away on a potential deal behind the scenes for several weeks now.”
Transfer Tavern take
Amassing an impressive 51 caps for Norway, whilst King has been plying his trade in the Championship since Bournemouth’s relegation, he is also experienced on the biggest stages.
His deal on the South Coast expires at the end of this season, meaning West Ham could even negotiate a fairly cheap transfer given the Cherries’ current position and his contract situation
Time will tell whether this move happens, but it could suit all parties.
