Former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor has defended West Ham United’s owners David Gold, David Sullivan and Karren Brady, for selling Grady Diangana to West Brom last summer.

The 22-year-old signed a permanent deal with the Baggies last summer after spending the season before on loan, helping them reach the Premier League.
This move greatly upset Hammers’ skipper Mark Noble, who was not happy about the sale of a player who he described as a “great kid” (cited by The Guardian).

After picking up a hamstring injury last month, Diangana has not featured in any of Sam Allardyce’s matchday squads since.
Speaking to Football Insider, Agbonlahor believes that the club’s owners deserve credit regarding their handling of Diangana.
“Everyone was not happy at the time but after he scored the goal, he’s not really been the same player in games,” he said.
“Someone like him needs to play in a better team where he’s got better players around him. It’s very hard to judge a player when they’re playing at such a poor team like West Brom.
“I’m sure he’ll have to wait for his chance and get another move and play with better players.
“But you look back at it, the West Ham owners would probably say ‘this is why we sold him, we got Benrahma in and he’s done well and we’re in the top six.’
“Maybe now people will lay off David Gold, David Sullivan and Karren Brady.”

We don’t think that the majority of West Ham supporters will automatically start liking the owners because of this one incident. It goes way beyond that.
A lot of promises have been broken by Gold, Sullivan and Brady over the past five years and the fans have every right to be aggrieved regarding the way things are run off the pitch.
Sure, they do deserve credit for this particular but it almost certainly will not stop people from criticising the trio.
