West Ham would do well to acquire Neal Maupay in the summer

West Ham have taken a turn for the worst in recent weeks, having been knocked out the FA Cup by AFC Wimbledon and have been dealt blows in their hopes of finishing 7th this season.

All in all, it hasn’t been a good start to 2019 for West Ham and Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping to quickly change things around.

His team could do with a number of improvements, which he will hope to amend in the summer when given the chance to build on his first season at the club.

As a whole, West Ham have been doing well but they cannot afford to let their heads drop and performances must be raised once again.

Keeping one eye on potential summer signings is a sensible thing to do though and a player that could be near the top of that list is Brentford’s Neal Maupay.

Maupay, (who is valued at £4.5 million on Transfermarkt) has been a goalscoring machine whilst at Brentford as he’s already outdone his tally of 13 goals last season, because he’s scored 17 goals in 17 less games.

At the age of 22 as well, Maupay can only improve – hence why he would be an exciting recruit for West Ham to consider.

The former French U21 star has been brilliant this season despite Brentford being 18th in the table, a position that would be far worse without his goal contribution.

West Ham simply have to move for the talented forward, not only because of his ability but also because all of their current forwards face uncertain futures and none of them are guaranteed to be in claret and blue past the summer.

With that in mind, Neal Maupay would make a very smart signing for the Hammers.
