The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been enjoying reading the rumours today that Unai Emery could be set to reunite with Ever Banega at Arsenal. The Argentine midfielder won two Europa League’s under Emery at Sevilla and could now work under him again at The Emirates according to Estadio Deportivo.
A clause in Banega’s Sevilla contract could see him move from Sevilla to Arsenal for a fee of just £18 million and the fans are loving the fact that they’re being linked with a player who has the pedigree of the Argentine. At the age of 29, Banega’s experience would be very useful at the club considering they have a number of young midfielder’s such as Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Banega would be a key signing for Emery and considering the Spanish gaffer has little in the way of transfer funds to splash this summer, securing the services of Banega for a fee of less than £20 million would be a huge bargain for the club. Emery reportedly wants to bring in players who can fit into his 4-2-3-1 formation with three attacking midfielder’s behind the striker and Banega fits that system having played it with Emery previously at Sevilla.
