‘What a plonker’ - Fans react on Twitter to Tottenham star’s latest comments

Harry Kane has come in for criticism from a number of fans in the Transfer Tavern over the last few weeks. If you haven’t heard by now, Kane claimed to have got a touch on a Christian Eriksen free-kick in Spurs’ second goal against Stoke and after the goal was given to Eriksen, Spurs appealed the decision and the goal was ultimately awarded to Kane. Now though, speaking to Sky Sports, Kane looks to have put it behind him.

Despite the criticism of the Tottenham man, no one can take Kane’s goal against Brighton off of him. The 24-year-old scored the game’s opening goal, although just 18 seconds after Brighton restarted the game, they’d won a penalty. The game finished 1-1 and Kane gave his thoughts afterwards, claiming that the criticism and jokes he was the brunt of on social media haven’t been bothering him as he looks to ramp up his pursuit of the Premier League’s golden boot.

Mo Salah currently leads the way in the chase for the Golden Boot with 30 Premier League goals to his name, whilst Kane is sitting four goals behind him on 26. Many fans might believe that Kane won’t be able to challenge Salah for the award given he’s four goals behind with just four games remaining, although last season the Englishman bagged seven goals in his last two games against Leicester and Hull as he won his second consecutive Golden Boot. The striker will be aspiring for his third edition of the award in as many as years as his chase looks like it’ll be going to the final day of the season.

I have lost respect for him as there was no deviation on the flight of the ball nor evidence of it even glancing his shoulder it showed desperatation to claim the goal off a teamate and the goal panel decision showed huge bias to an England player

Yes it is your job but not to claim someone else’s goal because you are so desperate to win golden boot , you got all you deserved .
