What does the future hold for Jorginho?

Jorginho (1)

Loads of players come to England to play in the Premier League every season. A lot of them find success and make a second home for themselves at top clubs, but some flop and end up returning to their homelands with their reputations in tatters and Jorginho needs to go back to his native Italy before that happens to him.

The 27-year-old joined Chelsea from Napoli almost a year ago for around £50 million. In his time in England, though, the midfielder has been exposed having left the comfort of his native Italy. Despite his pedigree at Napoli where he was hailed as a hero, he has failed to set the Premier League alight and has become part of a side under great scrutiny at the moment under Maurizio Sarri.

So far from Jorginho, we’ve seen a lot of mixed performances. Earlier in the season, he broke a record for the most amount of passes completed by a single player in a Premier League game, yet for all of his passes he’s yet to register a single assist and has scored just once, from the penalty spot in the Blues’ opening weekend win over Huddersfield.

After looking like a flashy midfielder who had it all in his locker for a few months, the Italian was eventually found out when he was marked out of the game at Wembley in a 3-1 defeat to Tottenham. That game saw the midfielder run-ragged by Heung-Min Son and outplayed by the Lilywhites in a game that he has never really recovered from since in his career in England.

After that fateful game and coming under more and more scrutiny with every game that passes which he doesn’t influence, it’s understandable that he should be seeking a move away. If he was to leave for the Serie A then he’d have plenty of suitors, and it’s a move that he should really consider if he hasn’t been able to adapt his game to the Premier League by the time the summer comes around.
