With 2010 drawing to close and the Premier League hotting up considerably on a weekly basis, many fans up and down the country are hoping that the brightest stars in England’s top tier can keep up the great performances well into the New Year.
However, while many are looking ahead to the potential success and great performances which are to come, which player has seemingly stood out above everyone else so far as the Premier League’s best player in 2010?
Adam Johnson – Since making the move from Championship side Middlesbrough at the beginning of 2010, Johnson has seemingly taken his game to the next level as a regular first team player, not only for club side Manchester City but for England as well. His pace and ability on the ball makes him an exciting prospect and one who will be at the highest level of English football for years to come.
Gareth Bale – Has been a revelation in the last year for Spurs, making the move from the left back position to one of the best left midfielders around today. The Welsh international was a major factor in Tottenham reaching the Champions League for the first time in their history and has seemingly picked up this season where he left off last campaign with a number of impressive performances.
Didier Drogba – Considered one of the best strikers in world football. The former Marseille man was last seasons Premier League top scorer and after a solid performance at the World Cup with Ivory Coast, Drogba returned to Chelsea and showed his scoring touch once more with 6 goals in 7 appearances so far this season.
Wayne Rooney – The Manchester Unite man was the deserved winner of last season’s PFA Player of the Year with a number of great performances and memorable goals. While the former Everton youngster hasn’t recaptured the dizzy heights of last campaign so far this season, his pace, strength and all round technical skill makes him a constant thorn in defenders sides.
Carlos Tevez – The Argentinean has established himself as one of the Premier League’s stand out players in recent years with a number of brilliantly crafted goals which have left fans speechless. His ability to make a chance out of seemingly nothing has made him one of City’s top stars and if the North West club are to continue their solid start to the season and challenge the likes of Chelsea and United for top honours, fans will be looking to the 26 year old to lead the way.
Cesc Fabregas – Has become an iconic figure at Arsenal since making his debut back in 2005 and with his ability to control a game at will it’s easy to see why. With brilliantly crafted goals and superb through balls, the Spaniard has put in a number of key performances over the past year that have helped the North London club keep up a regular title challenge and if they are once again to be up there come the end of this season, a lot will rest of the 23 year old’s shoulders.
James Milner – Last season’s young player of the year, an achievement which helped the England international seal a move to Manchester City in the summer after a number of stand out performances at Aston Villa, demonstrating why he is seem as one of the best wingers in the league. His pace and trickery on the ball has made him an instant fan favourite at Eastlands and the good times look set to continue in the near future as both City and Milner seem to be going from strength to strength.
Joe Hart – Following his loan at Birmingham last season, Hart has become one of the best keepers in the Premier League, taking City’s number one keeper slot off the experienced Shay Given. This success resulted in Fabio Capello also making the 23 year old England’s number one and if he can keep his recent level of performance, its sure to be a position he keeps for years to come.
Frank Lampard – The former West ham youngster was a pivotal part of Chelsea’s winning formula last season. The service which he was able to provide to the Blues forwards, combined with his ability to regularly score over twenty goals a season has has seemingly made him a legend at Stamford Bridge. While Lampard’s season is still yet to get up and running through injury, the England international is sure to play a vital role in their campaign if they are to successfully retain the Premier League crown.

Well Kimmy, I believe those are the best players to perform over the past year. yes 4 of them are from City but Milner made his name while at Aston Villa and in regard to only one being from United and Arsenal thats because really there isn’t anyone else from those teams who warrants to be included
