Newcastle United: Fans slam link to takeover target Wilfried Zaha as Peter Ramage gives his thoughts

Loads of Newcastle United fans have been slamming a transfer link to Crystal Palace player Wilfried Zaha as former defender Peter Ramage told the Back of the Nest podcast (via ChronicleLive) that it would not be a good move for him to join the Tyneside club.

Ramage played down the move from a financial aspect, despite Zaha being touted as a potential target for Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-led consortium should the prospective takeover in the North East eventually be approved by the Premier League.

However, several members of the Toon faithful seem to be agreeing with Ramage on Twitter over the potential acquisition of the Eagles winger, with one NUFC supporter claiming that Allan Saint-Maximin is ‘much better’.

Comparing the two men in the top flight this season so far, ASM averages more shots and key passes per game, and is not far off Zaha in terms of goals, assists and dribbles, according to Whoscored.

Based off these stats, the Magpies may be wise not to invest in the 27-year old given they already have Saint-Maximin in his position and instead use their money in other areas.

These supporters slammed the link to the Ivorian international:
