The Gunners look to face some midfield problems in the coming months, and the Gooners here the Football Transfer Tavern are demanding the club spend some cash in the summer to bolster the squad!
Role players Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini all have contracts up after this season. While Wenger may be able to retain some midfield talent, it’s likely that some will choose to walk away.
Midfielders Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla have all underperformed this year, and Wenger will surely be looking to bolster their talent to perform more consistently next season.
Borussia Mochengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka has been linked with an Arsenal move this summer, and is reportedly in ‘advanced talks’ with the north London side.
The 23-year-old has been touted by our landlord here in the Tavern as one of the world’s best young defensive midfielders in the game today.
With Xhaka leaving the Bundesliga for England, here are FIVE players that could follow him to Arsenal this summer to improve the club’s depth……

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Depth is what Arsenal needs the most and Mkhitaryan could provide just that for the Gunners.
With the underwhelming nature of Theo Walcott, maybe it’s time that the club parts ways with the once Henry replacement.
The Armenian can play either on either wing in the attack, and would be an excellent signing for the north London side.
His creativity is second to none, and him and Ozil together could be scarily productive.
Julian Draxler

The addition of Draxler would help the depth and pace with his great crossing and through balls, and can play in many parts of the pitch as well.
A partnership in the midfield with Mesut Ozil could fare well for Arsene Wenger.
Our punters here inside the Transfer Tavern have wanted to see Draxler in the Premier League for ages, and think his all-round abilities are suited perfectly for the top-flight of English football.
Ilkay Gundogan

A Gundogan-Xhaka holding midfield combo could be lethal in the Premier League.
The two Bundesliga stars could facilitate a nice flow and controlling nature to the Arsenal attacking play.
Our landlord has heard through the grapevine that the German is looking set for a move to Manchester City, so the Gunners would need to act quick to get a move sorted!
Javier Hernandez

With Arsenal’s top goal scorers seeing time on the sideline due to injuries, there is always a need for more offensive production.
Ever since his departure from United, Chicharito has been playing with a chip on his shoulder and mastering his finishing skills for Bayer Leverkusen.
The Mexican has a knack of being in the right place at the right time, and would be excellent for the Gunners.
Lars Bender

Arsenal could use some extra muscle in the middle of the pitch, and Bender could wreak havoc on Premier League midfielders with his ability to intercept and tackle.
A combination of Bender and Xhaka would be incredibly solid, and would arguably be one of the Premier League’s best defensive midfield duos.
Our landlord her in the Tavern can envisage seeing Bender in a Arsenal shirt, and feels Wenger should definitely pursue a move for him.
