Wolverhampton Wanderers fans were lauding Christian Marques after the player signed his first-ever professional contract.
The defender has been with Wolves since joining the club in March 2019 from Swiss outfit Grasshopper Club Zürich for a fee believed to be just £558k (via Transfermarkt). Marques has been a revelation for the club and was even named captain for the under-23s despite being just 17-years-old, making him the youngest ever skipper of the side’s development team.
It seems as though a fast track to the first-team could be on the horizon for the youngster especially with Nuno Espirito Santo possessing just three centre-backs in his first-team squad (via Transfermarkt). Head of the academy, Scott Sellars, lauded him for his quick progression, claiming it shocked people at the club.
