Responding to a post by Wolverhampton Wanderers’ official club account, many Wolves supporters have been worshipping the heroics of Matt Doherty after footage emerged of him celebrating a last-ditch tackle to keep his side in front last weekend.
The Irishman, who has started 23 games for Wolves this season (WhoScored), becoming a staple of Nuno Espirito Santo’s midfield four, made a heroic block to keep his side in front during their impressive 3-2 victory away to Spurs. The home side had originally taken the lead twice, with Wolves going on to level the score on both occasions before in-form striker Raul Jimenez buried a composed effort past Huge Lloris for the eventual winner.
Doherty, who also found the net in North London, registered a 7.8 SofaScore rating from the contest – winning all of his ground duels whilst amassing a 74% pass accuracy.
