Transfer insider Dean Jones has provided an update regarding the future of Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves.

The lowdown: Wanted man

The 25-year-old has been repeatedly linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks, whilst there is also interest from Barcelona and Arsenal.

Under contract at Molineux until 2024 (Transfermarkt), the Midlands club are in a strong position when it comes to deciding the Portuguese international's future.

Now a transfer specialist has delivered an update on what the summer could look like for Neves, coming after reports this week claimed it is the player's dream to join Barcelona...

The latest: 'Key time'

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Jones suggested that the 26-cap Portugal ace is likely to be 'considering' his options in the summer.

“Ruben Neves, we all know, has been contemplating his future over the past season.

“It looks like this is a key time in his career and a time when he probably is going to seriously consider switching clubs.”

The verdict: Keep at all costs

So far this term the former FC Porto man has scored four times and provided two assists in 29 Premier League appearances, earning a 7.17 Sofascore rating whilst making 2.2 tackles, 1.3 clearances and 1.2 interceptions per game on average.

Overall, the influential star, who was described as 'very talented' by former teammate Sylvain Deslandes, has made 208 appearances for the Wanderers and remains an integral part of Bruno Lage's side.

Whilst it seems inevitable that Wolves will have to fend off major offers for their talismanic midfielder at the end of the season, if Lage's ambitious attempt to break into the top six is to become a reality, keeping players such as Neves will be crucial.
