Wolves: Fans have no sympathy for Liverpool over controversial VAR decision

Sympathy was in short supply from many Wolves fans towards Liverpool after a controversial VAR-affected 2-2 draw in the Merseyside derby against Everton.

With the match level in injury time, Thiago found Sadio Mane with a defence-splitting pass and the Senegal winger duly played the ball to Jordan Henderson, who finished to the net for what seemed the winner. However, officials ruled the goal out for offside by the barest of margins after a VAR review, prompting the champions to ask the Premier League to investigate how the decisions were made (as per Sky Sports).

Many followers of the Molineux club were quite happy to mock Liverpool about their frustrations after incidents which took place last season. During Wolves’ visit to Anfield last December, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side had a goal ruled out in a similar fashion to Henderson’s yesterday, after VAR chalked off a seemingly good Pedro Neto strike (which would have earned them a point) for a marginal offside against Jonny.

With this in mind, some Wolves fans were quick to point out that they have also had their fair share of decisions go against them, and Liverpool should not feel singled out on the issue.
