Wolves look set to miss out on striker target Luka Jovic, who is reportedly returning to his former side Eintracht Frankfurt on loan.
Wolves miss out on Jovic?
Cited by First Post, the Bundesliga club’s sporting director Fredi Bobic announced that the 23-year-old is being loaned back to them until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.
With Nuno Espirito Santo’s side struggling in the striking department, Raul Jimenez injured and his summer signing Fabio Silva not firing on all cylinders, the Portuguese tactician has been heavily linked with the Serbia international having dropped hints about dipping into the market.
Despite Jovic not having the best of starts at the Santiago Bernebeu, he made his name at Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, where he scored 36 goals and provided nine assists from 75 appearances (TransferMarkt).
Transfer Tavern Verdict
This is a setback that Nuno will not have needed, but something that he should have prepared for.
With The Athletic previously suggesting that the Portuguese tactician has at least 30 strikers on their shortlist, Wolves will need to act to bring someone in and get them up to speed.
Time will tell what they decide to do over the next three weeks. But whatever Fosun and Nuno decide to do – it could either make or break their season.
Due to the seriousness of Jimenez’s injury, there is always the chance that the Mexican may not return this season at all.
