The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have failed to entertain a rumour from TUTTOmercatoWEB that claims the Magpies have launched a 13 million euro bid for Stefano Sturaro. Juventus reportedly want 20 million euros for the player and Leicester City have also expressed an interest in the 25-year-old.

Sturaro is just the latest player to be linked with a move to St James Park. In recent weeks the club has been linked with a host of players from around Europe, although the news that Sturaro could be on his way to the North East is a new one. Juventus have previously offloaded players to the Premier League, with Roberto Perreyra, Mario Lemina, Simone Zaza and most recently, Stephan Lichtsteiner, all making the move from Juventus to England.
If Rafa Benitez does sign the Italian it would come as a surprise to a number of Geordies. The club doesn’t have a huge transfer budget this summer and with the likes of Jonjo Shelvey, Mohamed Diame and Mikel Merino all fighting for the club’s two positions in central midfield, it wouldn’t even be a guarantee that the Italian would start for the Magpies. For that reason, the Newcastle fans have already written this one off.

Classic move, make a bid knowing its no where near their valuation, say they tried.

Whilst Sturaro could be a quality signing, the Newcastle fans in the Tavern aren’t interested in this rumour and would be extremely surprised to see it happen.
