While manager Sam Allardyce deserves praise for the way he’s got his methods across to his players after a ropey first couple of months in the job, the stars on the pitch have been truly excellent, with Mamadou Sakho one of the standout performers.
Signed on loan from Liverpool over the winter after being frozen out of the Reds’ first-team by Jurgen Klopp after a pre-season fall-out, the Frenchman has turned his 2016/17 around, helping the Londoners to four wins from his six appearances, including Monday night’s 3-0 battering of Arsenal.

After the match Sakho took to Twitter to post a celebratory photo of himself and his partner at the side of the Selhurst Park pitch, and Liverpool fans seized on the opportunity to voice wishes for him to come back to Anfield for 2017/18…
