£15M Hit Man Is The Only Thing On McLeish’s Mind

Jamie Nield-Siddall 13 July 2011, 17:50 2 minutes read

According to the Daily Mail, Alex McLeish is set to join the race to bring in Hugo Rodallega to bolster his attacking options.

Wigan’s concern over keeping hold of their superstars continues as the likes of Arsenal, Villarreal, Sevilla and Everton have all shown their admiration towards the Columbian hit man, adding to the strain as the Latics attempt to tighten the grip and hang on to their sought after frontman.

The 25 year old versatile striker, whom can also play out wide is valued around £15m and has been added to McLeish’s list of summer targets that also consists of Wigan team mate Charles N’Zogbia.

Rodallega, currently at the Copa America leading the line for his country spoke out over his future and said ‘There are many teams interested, it’s true. Villarreal, Sevilla, Arsenal also have some interest, and Everton. There is a lot of speculation but my future at this moment is at Wigan.’

I believe the asking price for the Wigan starlet and with Shay Given, Scott Parker Alan Hutton and N’Zogbia all having been heavily linked as “priority” for the new Villa gaffer, Rodallega is likely to take a back seat and this rumour will fizzle away along with many more as we approach the new campaign.

I could see him making a move for either of Rodallega or N’Zogbia, but not both.

Who would you prefer to see at Villa Park next season?

I am pursuing a career in journalism. I am a big Arsenal fan and use to love nothing more than travelling the country watching the Arsenal week in week out. I say (use) to love, I’m 100% sure i still would love it... The greatest player ever to grace the premiership is Thierry Henry in my book. Football aside, only fools and horses it is....
