There have been mixed emotions among Liverpool supporters in the Transfer Tavern this week after their side’s credible 1-1 draw with Premier League champions Chelsea on Saturday, with some satisfied with their team’s efforts while others have bemoaned the Reds’ inability to see the game out.

Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their clash with the Blues off the back of shipping three unanswered goals in the second half of their 3-3 draw with Sevilla in midweek, a result which keeps them top of their Champions League group but having yet to book their place in the knockout stages. However, they looked on course to get back to winning ways as Mohamed Salah gave them a 65th minute lead against Antonio Conte’s side, only for Willian to equalise five minutes from time to secure a point for the West London outfit, and thus instigate Liverpool’s drop to sixth in the Premier League table following Arsenal’s win at Burnley.

Consequently, some Liverpudlians have been slightly frustrated with their side after seeing another victory go begging, while others were much more positive as the Merseyside giants are clearly progressing well ahead of the busy Christmas period.

In the meantime though, there has been plenty for our resident Reds supporters to get their teeth into, not least recent reports which suggest that striker Daniel Sturridge is a target for fellow top-flight club West Ham in the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old has struggled for regular gametime since Klopp took over at Anfield two years ago, making just five Premier League starts so far this term, and totalling just 13 appearances in all competitions.

And with a World Cup in Russia at the end of the season, the England international knows that he needs minutes on the pitch to make Gareth Southgate’s final 23-man squad, and as such he has reportedly been linked with a move to David Moyes’ Hammers.

Andrew Robertson

It has been a testing few months for Andrew Robertson at Liverpool, who looked destined to be the club’s first-choice left-back following his arrival from Hull City over the summer, only for Alberto Moreno to up his level.

The Spaniard’s poor form last term was a likely factor in Klopp’s decision to spend £8 million on the 23-year-old during the close season, yet the former has significantly improved to restrict Robertson to just two Premier League starts so far.

Thus, the Scotland international may be on the lookout for regular gametime in January, and with the Hammers struggling somewhat defensively this term, new boss Moyes may look at his compatriot as someone who can come in and help shore up his backline.

Dominic Solanke

Dominic Solanke no doubt made the move from Chelsea to Liverpool over the summer in a bid for more regular first team football, but it simply hasn’t worked out like that for the Englishman.

The 20-year-old has yet to start a Premier League game for Klopp’s men and has in total just ten appearances for the senior side this season, only one of which was a start.

And with fierce competition in that area of the pitch at Anfield, the former Vitesse man doesn’t look like commanding regular football, yet that could well happen at West Ham.

Moyes’ men have also struggled in the final third of the pitch this season, with the Hammers struggling to find a way of getting the best out of Javier Hernandez – could Solanke be the answer to their woes?
