2 Man United problems Mourinho must solve during the international break

Here in the Transfer Tavern, the Manchester United fans are already counting down the days until the international break is over.

Not wanting to lose the early season momentum they’ve currently got, the punters here are twiddling their thumbs during another break in the Premier League season, praying that all their internationals come back as fit as they went.

While the world switches into country mode, Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho will be using that time to figure out the riddle to the two problem areas he needs to fix in order to continue their unbeaten streak, especially with some tough games ahead.

Albeit all good headaches to have, Mourinho must ponder whether to play Ashley Young, Daley Blind or Luke Shaw at left-back, who should be the starter on the left wing and how does he fix the Pogba absence problem in midfield.

So, though it’s been a truly wonderful start for the Red Devils, there is certainly food for thought heading into the break, especially with neighbours Manchester City looking so good right now.

The landlord thinks that these two problems will be at the top of his to-do list.

The Left-back position

Many have been played in that position already this season, but Jose doesn’t as of yet have a first choice left back
like he does on the right with Antonio Valencia.

Luke Shaw is the natural choice being the specialist in that position but his lack of game time and stamp of impression may not give him the cutting edge he needs.

Indeed, Ashley Young has impressed and offered something different, while Daley Blind is reliable but lacks the attacking edge the other two have.

Can Shaw be given another chance to shine after the break, or is it Young’s to lose?

The Pogba Problem

With the Paul Pogba injury seemingly worse than first thought, United must make long term plans in his absence. Pogba had started the season in inspired form and looked liked he was going to start to live up to his price tag.

Fellaini seems to be the manager;s choice as he offers something different but a midfield of the Belgian, Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic doesn’t offer much in the way of creativity, to be honest.

Whether or not he drops Juan Mata deeper remains to be seen, though Pogba certainly needs replacing.
