Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are expecting some good deals this January to keep them in the title race.
The Reds are firmly in with a chance of winning the title that they crave most of all this season with them just five points behind leaders Chelsea in second place.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have played some brilliant football too this season and many here by the bar think that if they can just sign a few more players to bolster their squad, they’ve got a real chance.
Indeed, our landlord is of the opinion that, whilst their first XI is as good as any, it’s their options off the bench that are arguably worse than any of the other title challengers’ and that needs to be addressed.
With that in mind, then, our landlord reckons these two midfielders need to be wrapped up before the end of the month…
Franck Kessie
Franck Kessie is a real powerhouse already and looks like he could develop into a Premier League force.
Having only turned 20-years-old last month, he’s already made a strong name for himself with Serie A club Atalanta who have themselves turned heads this year. The Ivorian is a very mobile player that can get around the pitch with ease and drive his team forward whilst his goal record from midfield is impressive. He’d really be a top asset for the Reds.
Isco

The Spanish international is a class act but he needs to be playing to show that off more.
At Real Madrid he is behind the likes of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, understandably, and so he risks not fulfilling his potential if he stays with Los Blancos. The Reds could do with someone in a deeper role with his kind of guile and craft whilst his Champions League experience would come in handy should the Reds qualify for next season’s competition.
