It’s been a tough old season for Premier League outfit Crystal Palace and their supporters here in the Transfer Tavern believe Sam Allardyce’s team must do better moving forward this campaign.

For a team that has invested so heavily, the Eagles are massively under-performing compared to some of their Premier League rivals in the division and you can see why frustrations are high down at Selhurst Park.

Big Sam certainly has a job on his hands making sure his team stay in the division come the end of the campaign, even more so now that some of Palace’s rivals are beginning to pick up points at the lower end of the table.

And it seems there’s genuine thought amongst the Palace locals here in the bar that certain players in this squad aren’t performing well enough in the slightest and that they should have been sold this January.

Harsh words indeed but a sentiment we certainly agree with.

So, with that in mind, here’s two Crystal Palace players that really should have been moved on in January…

Bakary Sako

Former Wolves man Bakary Sako is certainly good enough to get into most mid-table to low Premier League squads and he’s a man that would have surely liked a move in January.

He’s a talented enough player but for the lack of action he’s had, he’s a player Palace probably could have parted with to make room in the squad.

He’s a blisteringly quick winger who has a really eye for goal but never gets the chance to prove it. Should he have been sold? He’s somewhat surplus to requirements so perhaps he should have been.

Andros Townsend

There’s absolutely no arguing that Palace winger Andros Townsend is one of the better players on the books at the moment but he’s a man that doesn’t seem too committed to the cause going forward.

What Palace need right now are a group of players that are willing to help the team really press forward, not individuals who are clearly not that interested in rolling their sleeves up ready for the fight.
