Manchester City supporters have been making a lot of noise in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side come through two huge tests against Huddersfield Town and Southampton to maintain their eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League, as well as their incredible winning run.

Pep Guardiola’s men were tipped by many to go on and win the title this term, and they have certainly lived up to expectations so far by winning 13 of their 14 league matches, although their most recent two were arguably their toughest yet. The Citizens needed an 84th minute winner from Raheem Sterling to see off spirited Huddersfield 2-1 at the John Smith’s Stadium on Sunday, and it was that man Sterling again who got the winning goal in their 2-1 success over Southampton on Wednesday night, firing home an unstoppable effort from the edge of the box in the sixth minute of injury time.

Subsequently, there have been many delighted City fans in the Tavern this week, many of whom are daring to dream about what their side could go on to achieve in the second half of the season, both on a domestic and European front.

Elsewhere, there has been plenty for our resident Citizens supporters to get their teeth into, not least recent reports suggesting that Barcelona have targeted a move for striker Gabriel Jesus.

The 20-year-old only moved to the Etihad Stadium back in January of this year but has hit the ground running with 17 goals in just 31 games for the club, ten of which have come in 20 appearances so far this season.

Yet the Spanish giants are reportedly lining up the Brazil international as a possible replacement for Luis Suarez, and were Jesus to indeed leave City in January, here are TWO other stars who could follow him out of the Etihad…

Eliaquim Mangala

A hamstring injury to John Stones has left Guardiola slightly short of centre-backs going into the busy Christmas period, and outcast Eliaquim Mangala was given an opportunity against Feyenoord to stake a claim for a first team spot.

However, the Frenchman did little to suggest that he could do a job when called upon for Guardiola’s side, and as such his future at the Etihad Stadium looks very unclear given the likely lack of first team football he’ll get over the coming months.

Thus, a January move away, be it on loan like when he went to Valencia or on a permanent deal, looks to be in the best interests of all parties involved.

Kevin De Bruyne

Kevin De Bruyne has been arguably the best player in the Premier League so far this season, and looks set to play a key part in Man City’s quest for major honours come the summer.

That’s if he remains at City beyond the January transfer window, as reports recently have suggested that European champions Real Madrid are interested in the Belgian star, who has scored five goals and laid on ten assists for Guardiola’s side so far this term.

And were he to continue his magnificent efforts in the centre of the City midfield between now and January 1, interest in the 26-year-old’s services is surely only going to intensify.
