Manchester City supporters have been in fine voice in the Transfer Tavern all season given their team’s incredible start to the campaign, which got a whole lot better on Tuesday night as they edged past Feyenoord 1-0 in their penultimate Champions League group stage clash to finish top of Group F.
Pep Guardiola’s men went into the 2017/18 season heavily tipped by many to go on and win the Premier League title, and they have certainly lived up to expectations so far by winning 11 of their 12 league matches to open up an eight-point lead over neighbours Manchester United at the summit. And they are sweeping aside all before them in Europe as well as a Raheem Sterling strike two minutes from time saw them narrowly beat Feyenoord on Tuesday to clinch top spot in Group F, and extend their winning run to an incredible 17 matches in all competitions.
Thus, there have been many delighted City fans in the Tavern throughout the current campaign, and many are already eagerly anticipating their side’s return to action on Sunday when they travel to newly-promoted Huddersfield Town seeking to retain their firm grip on the Premier League title race.
In the meantime though, there has been plenty for our resident Citizens supporters to get their teeth into, not least recent reports linking them with a move for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez.
The Algeria international played a key part in the Foxes’ unbelievable title-winning success back in 2015/16, and although he wasn’t able to back that up last term, there have been signs that he’s returning to his best this time round with two goals and five assists already for Claude Puel’s side.
And the wing wizard has reportedly attracted the interest of Guardiola’s City, and were Mahrez to move to the Etihad Stadium in January, here are TWO other stars that could follow him to the North West…

Virgil van Dijk

Virgil van Dijk’s proposed move away from Southampton dominated the summer transfer window, but the Dutchman remained at St Mary’s beyond the August 31 deadline.
Yet that hasn’t stopped the 26-year-old speculating upon his own future, with the man himself admitting back in October that he remained hopeful of a move away, before backtracking earlier this month.
And reports suggest that Man City have entered the race to try and lure him to the Etihad Stadium ahead of Liverpool, and with the fitness of Vincent Kompany a regular cause for concern, and Eliaquim Mangala doing little to suggest that he could fill in if needed, a move for the Netherlands international could well take place in the January window.
Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez’s future at Arsenal has been speculated upon for a while now, yet it remains unclear as to exactly what will happen with the Chile international in the coming transfer windows.
A new deal at the Emirates Stadium remains unsigned, and with his current one set to expire in the summer, the Gunners are in a predicament as to whether to keep him during January in a bid to bolster their Champions League qualification hopes in the second half of the campaign, but risk losing him for nothing in the summer, or cash in on him in the winter as he would still command a decent price.
Regardless, Guardiola’s City appear to be one side very much in the hunt for the 28-year-old, and that could lead to a very uncomfortable for Arsenal and manager Arsene Wenger.
