Rangers supporters have been particularly downbeat and quite restless in the Transfer Tavern after seeing their side, who remain managerless almost a month on from Pedro Caixinha’s departure, go down 2-0 to Hamilton in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday, thus suffering a third league defeat of the campaign.

Interim boss Graeme Murty had led the Gers to two wins from his opening two games in temporary charge to somewhat steady the ship at Ibrox, but he was unable to celebrate a third successive victory in the hotseat. Goals from David Templeton and Darren Lyon in the second half sealed a deserved 2-0 success for Martin Canning’s men, who in turn moved up to seventh in the division, while fourth place Rangers now find themselves nine points adrift of leaders Celtic after they won 1-0 at Ross County earlier in the day.

Consequently, there have been many frustrated and disappointed Rangers fans in the Tavern this week, many of whom are beginning to get restless with regard to the ongoing pursuit of a new manager, with it seemingly no clearer as to who the next Gers boss will be.

In the meantime though, there has been plenty for those Rangers supporters lining up at the bar to discuss, not least a recent report which suggests that their club are eyeing up a January move for Manchester United starlet Scott McTominay.

The 20-year-old came up through the ranks at Old Trafford and has since gone on to make six senior appearances for the Red Devils, two of which have come in the Champions League this season.

Nonetheless, the midfielder doesn’t look like commanding regular football in Jose Mourinho’s side and as such has reportedly attracted the interest of Rangers, and if the Gers were indeed able to get a deal done for the United man, here are TWO other stars who could follow him to Ibrox…

Lewis Morgan

St Mirren’s Lewis Morgan has been making great strides at the Scottish Championship side in the last few years, and has continued to go from strength to strength in the early phases of this term.

The 21-year-old has scored nine goals and laid on six assists in just 17 appearances for Jack Ross’ men, five goals and three assists of which have come in the league in their run to second place in the table after 12 matches.

And, given that his contract is up at the end of the season, the midfielder has unsurprisingly attracted much attention both north and south of the border, with the likes of Cardiff, Celtic, Swansea, and indeed Rangers linked with the 21-year-old.

And with the Gers in need of reinforcements in January, it’s a move they must look to make in the New Year.

Kenny McLean

Aberdeen midfielder Kenny McLean looks set to leave Pittodrie at the expiration of his contract at the end of the season, and Rangers are one side reportedly in the race for his signature.

The 25-year-old made the move to the Dons back in 2015 and has since scored 17 goals and laid on 13 assists in 130 games for the club, in turn helping them to three successive second place finishes in the Scottish Premiership.

Yet his future appears to be away from Aberdeen, and with Rangers having made a bid for the Scotland international during the summer, they may well go in for him again in January.
