Liverpool supporters have been in high spirits in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side record three victories prior to the international break, thus standing them in good stead for the visit of Southampton on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s men eased past Huddersfield Town 3-0 in the Premier League before overcoming Maribor by the same scoreline in the Champions League a few days later, thus setting them up perfectly for their trip to struggling West Ham in what was their final game before the fortnight’s interruption. And the Reds produced another attacking masterclass to thump the Hammers 4-1 at the London Stadium, with a brace from in-form Mohamed Salah as well as goals from Joel Matip and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain securing another three points for Klopp’s side, who in turn moved above Arsenal into fifth place in the Premier League table.

Thus, there have been plenty of delighted Liverpudlians in the Tavern this week, many of whom are eagerly anticipating the return of the Premier League at the weekend, which will see their team seek a fourth consecutive victory in all competitions against Mauricio Pellegrino’s 13th place Southampton at Anfield.

In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Reds supporters to discuss, not least recent reports suggesting that the Merseyside giants are lining up a move for Monaco forward Thomas Lemar in 2018.

The France international played a big part in helping the club win the Ligue 1 title last season with nine goals and 11 assists in the league, while his five assists also played a part in their excellent run to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Yet there was much change at the Stade Louis II over the summer with several key names departing, and Lemar’s future is also far from certain with reports suggesting that both Liverpool and Barcelona are interested in the 22-year-old.

And were the Reds able to get a deal done for the forward, here are TWO other stars who could follow him to Anfield next year…

Virgil van Dijk

Virgil van Dijk’s proposed move away from Southampton dominated the summer transfer window, but the Netherlands international ultimately remained at St Mary’s past the August 31 deadline.

However, the 26-year-old has since then come out and said that he remains hopeful of a move away in January, while also backtracking a few weeks later, to suggest that a move to Anfield remains firmly in his mind, and as such could be something Klopp is interested in as time edges closer to the New Year.

Liverpool’s defensive problems have been well-documented for a while now, and they would surely benefit from someone as authoritative and defensively accomplished like van Dijk in the heart of their backline.

Thus, it’s a deal they must look to strike in January.

Suso

Suso came up through the ranks at Liverpool but only went on to make 21 first team appearances for the Reds, before leaving for better things back in the summer of 2015.

And since then he has become an impressive midfielder with Italian giants AC Milan, and as such has been linked with a return to Anfield in January as the Reds prepare for the likely departure of both Emre Can and Philippe Coutinho.

Returning to Merseyside would give Suso the chance to prove his worth once again to the Anfield faithful, but more importantly it would give manager Klopp another excellent option to choose from when selecting his starting eleven.
