The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for Antonio Conte to give a chance to a few of Chelsea’s young players…

The Blues’ squad is full of young talent, most of whom will never get a chance in the Chelsea first team. The club have become notorious for their lack of player development, and that’s likely a reputation that Conte will want to change.

Chelsea return to the League Cup, now known as the Carabao Cup, on Wednesday, and given that it’s not one of England’s most prestigious competitions, it could offer a chance for Conte to start a few of those youngsters.

This is, seemingly, something that the Italian wants to do – having confirmed that Charly Musonda will, in some form, feature in the game.

It’s a notion that has left the fans in the Transfer Tavern feeling very excited indeed, and that’s no surprise. For those uninitiated, though, here are 2 reasons why Chelsea fans should be so excited to see Charly Musonda play tonight…

Youth

For a lot of Chelsea fans, the mere prospect of a youth player getting a chance is enough to make them tune in.

It has been a long wait for the Blues, with John Terry the last real breakthrough act at Stamford Bridge on a long-term basis.

The likes of Andreas Christensen and, now, Charly Musonda look destined to make their mark on the first team, and so most fans will be keen to see what they can do.

Musonda is a particularly interesting prospect, as most fans won’t have seen him play very often before.

Technical Ability

It’s not all just about the prospect of a youth player featuring, though. Charly Musonda is actually a very good player on merit.

His most recognisable trait is his fantastic dribbling ability. He’s lightning fast on the ball and, much like compatriot Eden Hazard, he is able to glide past opponents as if they weren’t there.

Also look out for his fantastic passing skill. He is an expert at quick touch-and-move passing, and if he isn’t able to dribble past his opponents, he’ll look to pass around them.

He isn’t the finished article, of course, but he isn’t far off.
