The Brazilian, who moved to China earlier this year, came to Stamford Bridge in 2012, and he immediately made an impact – quickly becoming a regular for the Blues.

However, under Antonio Conte, he saw his significance reduce dramatically, and the writing was on the wall for a while.

Eventually, Chelsea were able to secure a lucrative transfer to China, and he’s spent the last few months making waves in the quickly emerging Chinese Super League. He’s currently rated at £19.8 million by Transfer Markt.

However, recent quotes from the Brazilian have suggested that he may be open to a move back to Chelsea if he made a return to the Premier League, and that’s left the fans in the pub divided.

Some would love to see him return, whilst others aren’t so sure. Our landlord is of the opinion that a move would be a great idea, and here are TWO reasons why…

 Quality

Oscar’s quality has never been in doubt. That’s part of the reason why Chelsea should certainly consider re-signing him.

The Brazilian, on his day, was simply unstoppable. The double that he scored against Juventus on his Champions League debut will never be forgotten in the Transfer Tavern, and there were so many days just like that famous night at Stamford Bridge.

Technical brilliance, incredible passing, Oscar had it all. His problem, though, was that his ‘day’ didn’t come often enough. Inconsistency really hurt the Brazilian.

In China, that inconsistency appears to have faded away somewhat. Since moving to China he has bagged 1 goal and 8 assists, and according to Who Scored, he has an average rating of 7.75 – which is terrific.

He’s a top player, and if his consistency has gotten better, he could certainly do a job.

 Passion

One thing that you couldn’t criticise Oscar for was his passion. He always gave 100% when he put on the famous Chelsea shirt, and that isn’t something that fans will never forget.

Just by looking at his style of play – always running, never giving up – it was easy to tell how much it meant to him to be playing for Chelsea.

This is something that the Blues lack at present, with so many long-term Chelsea players departing the club. The quality in the team is steadily rising, but alongside that, the love for the club is fading.

You can tell by his words that he misses Chelsea, and if he does want to return to the club, his love for the club is certainly a factor.
