The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have spent the last few weeks discussing Chelsea’s transfer dealings in recent years…

It was a long summer for the club, having spent much of it failing to land key targets, with the Blues largely unsuccessful in their quest to sign a few big names.

There was some success, of course, but in typical Chelsea fashion – it was mixed in with a number of failings.

This season, Chelsea’s transfer luck could be about to run out, with the Blues’ squad depth looking set to be a massive issue for the club.

With fans feeling pretty frustrated, much of their anger is being directed towards the Chelsea board – notably Michael Emenalo. Emenalo is the face of Chelsea’s transfer policy, and in light of Chelsea’s poor summer, the fans in the Transfer Tavern think that it might be time for him to go.

With that said, here are 2 reasons why it’s time for Emenalo to leave Chelsea – do you agree?

 Transfer Dealings

Emenalo has taken charge of a number of great deals. Indeed, just this past summer moves for Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata came through – and that is deserving of credit.

However, there have been so many massive mistakes that have really cost the Blues.

Romelu Lukaku’s premature sale, Kevin De Bruyne’s premature sale – the list goes on and on. There are so many former Chelsea players that could have made an impact. This includes the likes of Nemanja Matic – who the Blues bought back several years after the fact after recognising their mistake.

He shouldn’t take all of the blame, but as the face of Chelsea’s transfers – he needs to pay the price of these errors.

 Manager Power

Antonio Conte is clearly frustrated at his lack of power, and this is a feeling that stretches back some time. Indeed, Jose Mourinho had similar issues at the club.

This is just indicative of a major power struggle at the club, and it’s only going to end one way.

It’s time for the Blues to put the power back in the hands of the man that is making magic in the dugout. Conte deserves the trust of the board – and Chelsea must make it happen. That would mean Emenalo taking a step back from transfer proceedings, and perhaps even a departure would be necessary.
