Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are feeling good this week as they continued to keep up the pace in the race for the top four.

After brushing aside Leicester after seeing Liverpool lose at Hull City they are now a point off of fifth place and are looking ominous in the chase for Champions League football.

Certainly, if they can qualify for that our landlord reckons they’ll be very hard to stop next season in terms of the players they’ll be able to buy but he also thinks they need to keep hold of some of their current stars too.

Indeed, he disagrees with the idea that the Frenchman Anthony Martial could leave by The Mirror in a move that would surely make no sense.

He can’t see why United would get rid, then, and here are two reasons to help explain why…

He’s only young

We’re not talking about a player in his peak or even past his peak that may never get better, here.

Instead Martial is a young player who has already shown himself to possess the kind of quality to take on the mantle of being a Manchester United player. He was great last season and despite a dip this year there’s no reason why he won’t come back even stronger next time out.

They already lack pace

At times this season United have been so slow in getting forward it’s been absolutely dire.

Indeed, it’s meant that they haven’t be able to put games away and have instead drawn so to get rid of the rapid Martial would make little sense. Raw pace and skill is one of the best combinations for unlocking a stubborn defence and so United need to keep that in their armoury.
