Our Tottenham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are feeling so deflated at the moment.
Going into last weekend the Lilywhites were easily Chelsea’s main contenders for the Premier League title with them in second place and boasting one of the strongest squads around.
Wind forward to now, though, and you find a team that was completely outclassed by Liverpool at the weekend to leave many question marks over the side at the highest level.
You get the feeling, then, that more signings are going to be needed in the summer and it appears Mauricio Pochettino is thinking the same with The Mirror reporting the club’s interest in Kylian Mbappe – rivaling Arsenal.
The young Monaco man is forging quite the reputation for himself this season in Ligue 1 and our landlord reckons he’d be a great signing.
So, that in mind, here’s two reasons why Spurs must beat Arsenal to his signature…
Huge potential
Mbappe really is an exciting talent.
At the age of 18 you’d expect him to perhaps only show flashes of brilliance for Monaco but he has done it on a huge number of occasions – underlining his big potential. He has eleven goals and eight assists from 23 games in all competitions and our landlord reckons those numbers would only go up as he gets older playing for Mauricio Pochettino’s young side.
Spurs need to prove they’re serious

Losing away at Liverpool suggested to many here in the Transfer Tavern that Spurs still have much to prove when it comes to the big moments in a season.
Indeed, losing a game is fair enough but the way they did it was so poor and so that needs to be addressed. The Lilywhites will be looking for any way they can assert themselves amongst the big boys, then, and signing Mbappe ahead of Arsenal would help do that.
