Still fuelled by their Oil Rich owners, Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are waiting for Pep Guardiola to make a big move within this January’s transfer window.

The Citizens are someway of the top of the league and at this rate look unlikely to break the top four following an inconsistent run of results throughout the season.

Our landlord believes the reason for City’s lack of progress is that the personnel at City is not accustomed to playing Guardiola’s style of football which has seen him be so successful at Barcelona and Bayern Munich previously.

The January transfer market is a very complex time and it takes an absurd amount of money to gain any real quality in January due to the timing of the market opening, and City’s lack of action in the transfer market just shows that the right player has not been available for Guardiola to sign.

Although this is the case, this has not stopped the grumbles of City fans at the Transfer Tavern and here are two of the thoughts they have had ahead of the Tuesday transfer deadline…

Top Four?

With many issues in so many positions in the City squad, our resident Citizens in the Transfer Tavern are wondering whether this squad is good enough to break into the Champions League spots let alone the Premier League title.

Recent injuries and suspensions to Ilkay Gundogan and Fernandinho respectively have really made City vulnerable and our landlord has been amazed that Guardiola has not addressed this issue. Alongside this, City’s fullbacks have performed below par all season and these issues surely must be addressed in the summer if not this month.

With the strength of the teams around them paired with better performances by said teams, it is obvious to see why City fans are worried about their top four status.

Is Aguero Happy?

After Guardiola met with Aguero and his representative, rumours have been flying around in the Transfer Tavern over whether Aguero is happy at the Etihad.

There is no doubt that Aguero is City’s best player and any off the field distractions for the player will surely derail the Citizen’s season. Our landlord believes that any issues with Aguero need to be resolved at least until the summer where City will have time to assess the player’s situation and plan for next season whether that be with or without Aguero.

One thing is for certain, there will be anger from our resident City fans in the Transfer Tavern if Guardiola was to get rid of arguably the greatest striker that has ever pulled on the Manchester City jersey.
