It is exciting times to be a Manchester City fan in the Football Transfer Tavern with Pep Guardiola’s window shopping coming into full fruition following the arrival of Bernardo Silva from AS Monaco last week.

The strongly-rich outfit are also being linked with a number of players, and that would be the case when the manager is beginning his revolution by splashing the cash before his team return for pre-season training.

City will, of course, have a clear our during the summer months as they prepare to trim the wage bill but also get rid of some of the deadwood amongst the current squad; whether they were out on loan or just not utilised very much by Guardiola.

Our Sky Blues-mad punters can’t wait for the incomings to start flushing through the doors at the Etihad Stadium, which is surely just round the corner and could be expected any day now.

So with that in mind, here are TWO players who should be axed and a further TWO Manchester City need to sign in the coming weeks…..

Axe: Joe Hart

The England number-one realised he wasn’t wanted at Manchester City almost as soon as Pep Guardiola’s arrival was publicly announced, and that proved to the case.

Joe Hart was forced to spend the 2016/17 campaign on loan at Italian outfit Torino, whilst being able to maintain his spot as the national-team’s first-choice man between the sticks.

It seems highly unlikely that Hart will be allowed a second chance by the manager and should be on his way out in this window.

Sign: Benjamin Mendy

Manchester City may be swapping one French left-back with another as Benjamin Mendy could be an imminent arrival in the first-team following Gael Clichy’s exit at the end of last season.

The 22-year-old only joined AS Monaco last year after spending three campaigns at rivals Marseille and won the Ligue 1 title in his first season at the Stade Louis II Stadium.

Axe: Eliaquim Mangala

Guardiola’s side’s defensive frailties were shown throughout the 2016/17 Premier League season as Manchester City finished third in the end, despite the boss aiming for the title prior to his switch from Bayern Munich.

Our landlord was constantly frustrated at the lack of investment in the back line last summer, apart from the signing of John Stones for a staggering £50 million, and thinks it needs a magnificent shift in the next few weeks.

Eliaquim Mangala was an outcast before Pep Guardiola arrived and was subsequently shipped out on loan to Spanish side Valencia, featuring in thirty league matches for them.

The Frenchman needs to be moved on in the upcoming month if Manchester City want the largest possible transfer budget to work with.

Sign: Thiago

Manchester City are in need of some serious reinforcements to strengthen their midfield if they want to compete in every competition next season, so we think the club should make a move for Bayern Munich man Thiago.

Pep Guardiola will know the Spaniard well from his time in Germany, and should reunite with the 26-year-old this summer to become a real handful for opposition.

Thiago made 27 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern last year, helping to lead them to the title, and had a hand in eleven goals throughout the course of the campaign – whether that be putting the ball in the net himself or providing for a team-mate.
