The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are thrilled with their club’s effort in the transfer window and cannot wait to see what the rest of the new season has to offer.

The window saw Wayne Rooney complete his dream return to the club and the ex England captain has hit the ground running scoring Everton’s only Premier League goals in the league thus far.

Alongside Rooney, a statement has been made by the club in the form of more major summer transfer activity with the likes of Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Jordan Pickford, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Sandro Ramirez all coming through the gates at Goodison Park.

However, our landlord doesn’t believe that this should mean that the Toffees will have a successful season and he believes that Ronald Koeman may have made some mistakes in this transfer window which the Toffees may live to regret.

This has sparked up a discussion in the Tavern which has seen the Everton fans confused as they feel their club had a very good transfer window.

Our landlord has come back to the discussion and he has a shortlist of the two mistakes he believes the Merseyside club made in the transfer window.

Not selling Ross Barkley

Our landlord believes that not selling Barkley will cost Everton around £30-35million as it now means the Englishman can leave Goodison Park for free next summer.

Of course, Barkley may leave in January and Everton may gain some finance there but with a move to Chelsea looking practically done on deadline day, it would have come as a blow to Ronald Koeman that he still has Barkley in his squad with the price tag of the play maker being that high.

Not signing another striker

Whilst Wayne Rooney has hit the ground running at Everton, our landlord feels Ronald Koeman will be disappointed that he wasn’t able to add to his strike force in this window.

The Toffees signed Sandro Ramirez as well as Rooney but a proven goalscorer would have been a real coup had it materialised and the Goodison Park outfit were linked with the likes of Olivier Giroud and Khouma Babacar within the window.
