£24M City Ace Refuses To Walk Away From Eastlands

Days ago I brought you a story with the suggestion that City’s silky Spaniard David Silva was not exactly enjoying the Mancunian climate and that he was hoping for a return to Spain, to Atletico Madrid in particular, where he wouldn’t need to wear a snood 300 days of the year.

At the time, I questioned the legitimacy of the story, suggesting this could just be more evidence of the growing power that football agents have in the modern game.

Admittedly not something that would usually be a huge story it now appears that the story was rubbish but with the inclusion of direct quotes from the player, it immediately becomes more interesting.  Italian website TuttoMercatoWeb bring us the quotes from the tiny magician that should put the rumours to bed, they are as follows:

“I appreciate that Atletico were interested in me, but I am very happy at City.  I just arrived and do not want to leave the team.”

This should hopefully end any fears that City fans may harbour about the future of one of their star performers who arrived for £24million from Valencia last Summer.  It does not mean however that we won’t be subjected to many stories about the future of other City stars, isn’t it time that Tevez was supposedly unhappy again?

Silva was once again in majestic form again for City on Sunday against albeit lowly Notts County, and with reports that he has recommended former team mate Juan Mata to boss Roberto Mancini things seem to be coming together for the 25 year old winger at his new club.

I'm Joe and I write for the Transfer Tavern, I am a massive Manchester City fan, therefore 'bitter' to many of you out there! I was there in the dark days of Lincoln and Walsall away and loving this brief day in the sun before the inevitable City implosion in 2016. Football is pretty much on my mind the whole time so what better place for me to vent my amazingly non-biased views than on here, get involved!
