The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are loving their side’s fine recent form. The Blues have been picking up points left, right and centre over the last few weeks, and that’s going to be very important as they look to catch up with Manchester City. The Citizens, likewise, have been sensational, and so the Blues must keep performing.
That’s not going to be easy over the next few weeks, though, given how many games are forthcoming. It’s the busiest time of the season in terms of fixture congestion, and so the Blues need to be at the top of their game.
Their next fixture, this time against Newcastle, is not going to be easy, with both sides eager to pick up a win. Chelsea’s team selection will need to be absolutely perfect, and whilst the Blues won their last game, a few changes could be just what they need to tip them over the line against the Magpies.

Pedro
Pedro and Willian have often had to compete for a starting berth this season, and that’s likely to be the case again this weekend, with Eden Hazard likely to start the game after a rest in mid-week.
In a straight sprint for the first team, though, it is likely to be Pedro, who is rated at £25.2 million by Transfer Markt, that misses out. Willian has had a fantastic few weeks, having scored a few vital goals for the Blues. Neither player was particularly good against Swansea, but Willian did look threatening, and that will stand him in good stead ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures.
Expect Pedro to make an appearance from the bench.
Davide Zappacosta
Davide Zappacosta had a really tough night on Wednesday, and it couldn’t have come at a worse time.
Victor Moses is now back from injury, and it seems likely that he will take the place of the Italian.
Zappacosta has had a few weeks to really prove his worth, and if he had been impressive, Moses may have been frozen out of proceedings. Unfortunately for him, though, he’s done nothing to suggest that he is a better option than the Nigerian, and so our landlord is expecting a return to normality with Moses in the side this weekend.
