Our resident Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern are unsure how the Toffees will line up on the opening day.
Toffees boss, Ronald Koeman has experimented with a number of formations this summer and could choose to adopt the 4-2-3-1 or the 3-5-2 against Stoke.
When it comes to the club’s summer transfer business, Everton set the standard by getting their business done early.
New arrivals such as Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane and Sandro Ramirez have all settled in to life on Merseyside.
Despite losing top scorer, Romelu Lukaku, it’s exciting times for Toffees supporters, who now fancy their chances of breaking into the top six this season.
Which personnel Koeman decides to operate and the formation is uncertain, but with impressive wing-back potential and plenty of fire power down the middle, we think the Dutchman has identified his side’s potential in the 3-5-2 formation.
So without further adieu, take a look at the Everton team that would dominate Stoke on the opening day…
IN GOAL – JORDAN PICKFORD

The £30m man was sensational for Sunderland last season. Pickford, who was being tracked by several clubs this summer, could turn out to be a real coup for Everton.
LEFT-WING-BACK – LEIGHTON BAINES

Baines endured a stop-start season last campaign. The Englishman was hampered by several injuries and has lost his place in the England set-up.
It’s a new season and a new beginning, but a similar year could see him moved on next summer.
CENTRE-BACK – ASHLEY WILLIAMS

Williams impressed in his debut season for the Toffees. The skipper will be looking to improve on their 44 goals conceded in the Premier League last term.
CENTRE-BACK – MICHAEL KEANE

The £30m man made the switch from Burnley this summer and could be the one to watch this season. Keane is likely to replace Phil Jagielka.
CENTRE-BACK – MASON HOLGATE
The defender is set to be part of a bright future at Everton after impressing during the 2016/17 campaign. Holgate continues to grow in confidence and has been given plenty of game time in pre-season.
RIGHT-WING-BACK- TOM DAVIES

Tom Davies emerged as one of the leading youngsters in the Premier League last season.
The 19-year-old has seen his youthful exuberance utilised at right-wing-back in pre-season, it’s where he could play on the opening day.
CENTRE-MIDFIELD – IDRISSA GUEYE

The hugely underrated Senegal international starts in the middle.
With his superb defensive contribution and stamina, Idrissa Gueye has been likened as the new N’Golo Kante.
CENTRE MIDFIELD – MORGAN SCHNEIDERLIN

The Frenchman had a successful spell at the heart of the Everton midfield following his move from Manchester United in January.
Schneiderlin will be desperate to prove his doubters wrong and show he is amongst the very best this season.
CAM- DAVY KLAASSEN

The Dutchman has the talent but the pace and power of the Premier League will be a new challenge.
Klaassen may require patience from supporters to settle in as he adapts to the English game.
RIGHT-FORWARD – WAYNE ROONEY

The boyhood hero is back in an Everton shirt for the first time 13 years. He made just 15 starts for Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United last season. England’s record goal scorer is expected to figure far more under Koeman.
LEFT FORWARD – SANDRO RAMIREZ

The Englishman will likely be a second striker to new signing Sandro Ramirez.
The former Barcelona academy graduate opened his account for Everton in just 34 seconds against Sevilla in last weekends friendly.
He hit 14 La Liga goals for Malaga last season.
