The initial optimism around Chelsea and new boss Antonio Conte has somewhat faded here in the Football Transfer Tavern over the last couple of weeks.
Whilst the season started well, the Blues in the Tavern who were touting Chelsea for a Premier League title win have quietened down over the last few days.
A bad few weeks have taken the shine from Antonio Conte’s start to life in the Premier League, with defeats at Liverpool and Arsenal particularly difficult to take for the Chelsea faithful in the Tavern.
It’s left many of the Stamford Bridge faithful wondering where their club may be headed, and some are concerned that last season’s form may be about to return.
The Blues fans want to see the performances of old where they could beat anyone on their day, and whilst that could be just around the corner – there’s clearly work to be done.
In the meantime, our landlord has been trying to cheer the local Chelsea punters up with some forgotten great goals and thinks it’s only right to share them with everyone else.

Joe Cole v Man United
Joe Cole was a top quality talent, and he scored a great many fantastic goal in a Blue shirt.
This finish against Manchester United was the best of the bunch. Facing away from the goal, Cole somehow manages to get the ball out of his feet and spin away from 4 United defenders.
A powerful strike into the top of the net finished it off. What a goal.
Michael Essien v Arsenal
What a strike!
Michael Essien is often fondly remembered in the Tavern for his fantastic strike against Barcelona in the Champions League – but our landlord thinks this one is even better!
A mammoth strike from about halfway into the Arsenal box – absolutely unsavable.
Ricardo Carvalho v Tottenham
Ricardo Carvalho didn’t score many goals during his Chelsea tenure – but this is a strike that even a forward would have been proud of.
Picking the ball up just after the halfway line, Carvalho lets rip with a powerful strike into the back of the net.
Just like Essien’s before it – absolutely unsavable.
