The Blues have made a stellar start to the Premier League campaign, and bar a stumble at the Liberty Stadium this weekend – they have been absolutely flying.

The Chelsea fans in the Tavern have been particularly impressed with the form of some of Chelsea’s new stars, with both Michy Batshuayi and N’Golo Kante proving worth their weight in gold since their arrival in SW6.

However, whilst some of Chelsea’s higher quality players are playing well thus far this season, there are also a number of Chelsea players that are playing far better than our punters are used to.

Antonio Conte has made some of Chelsea’s more inconsistent players absolutely deadly so far this season – and that could prove crucial as the season progresses.

With that said, here are THREE Chelsea players playing out of their skin – Do you agree?

Oscar

A number of the Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern were calling for Oscar’s head over the summer, but Antonio Conte chose to persevere with the Brazilian midfielder.

Since the start of the season, Oscar has repaid his new manager’s faith – with a number of excellent performances that have proved how vital the 25-year-old is to Chelsea’s first team.

Whilst last season he was inconsistent and invisible; he has been absolutely crucial to every game so far this season, even popping up with an assist or two in the process.

It isn’t even his form in front of goal that has our landlord purring; it is his general, transitional play. He has been everywhere, mopping up at the back and then providing assists for the big man up front.

Oscar is bang in form.

Gary Cahill

Gary Cahill is another player that receives a fair chunk of criticism amongst the Chelsea faithful here in the Football Transfer Tavern – but this season he has proven all of the doubters wrong.

Alongside John Terry, Cahill has formed part of a near impenetrable defensive line.

Whilst his game last season was full of defensive mistakes and mishaps; there has been none of that this season.

His only blip thus far is a mistake that lead to Swansea’s second goal during game week 4; but video evidence after the fact has proven that he was unfairly fouled.

With David Luiz and Kurt Zouma breathing down his neck; Gary Cahill is stepping up to the plate and playing out of his skin.

Nemanja Matic

Everyone in the Tavern knows how good Nemanja Matic is, but last season he failed to prove his quality – and was a big reason as to why Chelsea struggled to a 10th place finish.

This season, under pressure from Cesc Fabregas and N’Golo Kante, Matic has really stepped up; and has begun to show the form that we saw during his debut season back in Blue.

Playing slightly further up the field, Matic has taken to his new position like a fish to water – and he has our landlord purring over his latest run of form.

If he can keep this up all season – nobody will remember how poor he was last year.
