Everton are very impressive at blooding young talent into their first team, and the Toffees regulars here in the Transfer Tavern are excited about the future!

Toffees stalwarts Tony Hibbert and Leon Osman came through the ranks and played at Goodison Park throughout their whole careers.

Whilst their time in Everton ended on a rather sour note last season, there is no denying they were given ample opportunities in the North-West and were able to lead very fruitful careers.

New manager Ronald Koeman is also known to have faith in youngsters and considering he has arrived from Southampton, a club known for blossoming youth, the signs look good for those who impress in Everton’s U18 and U21 squads.

Our landlord has heard about the talent brimming in Everton’s youth team and has informed us to keep our eyes peeled for THREE talents in particular…..

Callum Connolly

This lad is possibly less of a ‘hidden gem’ given his substitute appearance for the Toffees last April against Southampton.

However, to those who don’t know about the youngster, he is a very versatile defender who can play in any position across the back four and in central midfield.

Alongside his potential, he’s also got an eye for goal, netting 7 times for the U21’s last season, helping them finish to a 3rd place finish.

The life-long Evertonian signed a contract extension this summer, keeping him with the Toffees until 2019.

We’ve seen many impressive young defenders come from Everton over the past few years including Tyias Browning, Luke Garbutt and Brendan Galloway.

You’ll be adding Mr.Connolly to this group soon enough.

Antony Evans

Born in Liverpool, Evans has been on Everton’s books since the age of 9.

The midfielder impressed for the Toffees during spells in the U18s and U21s in the 14/15 season and has since inked his first professional contract with the club.

He will be hoping to add a few more goals this season, repaying the faith that David Unsworth originally showed in him.

If he can add a few more goals and assists to his armoury there’s absolutely no reason that he can’t force his way into first team reckoning in the coming years.

Harry Charsley

Like Evans, Charsley has been with Everton since he was 9 years old.

In 2014, the midfielder put pen to paper on a two-year professional contract having had a successful first year as a scholar.

He played a crucial part in helping the U18’s win the league in the 2013/14 season.

In the 2014/15 season, Charsley scooped the U18’s player of the season award as the Blues narrowly missed out on back-to-back title triumphs.

The midfielder has since signed a new one year deal after impressing in the U21’s last season, and will be hoping that if he continues to impress, a place on the first team bench can’t be too far away.
