Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are a happy bunch to say the least so far this season.
Flying high at the top of the league under their enigmatic manager Antonio Conte, the Blues are firmly in the driving seat as it stands to secure the Premier League title.
With a squad full of talent and pretty much two top class players for each position in the team, trying to strengthen the Chelsea line-up will be a hard task for Conte in this transfer window.
Some of our punters here in the Tavern though think that Chelsea could do with adding to their midfield. With Kante and Matic the main two men in the middle, there is a feeling that should either be injured, Chelsea would struggle to replace them.
With that in mind, we have taken a look at THREE midfielders who could slot into the Chelsea midfield if signed in January…
Andrea Poli

AC Milan midfielder Poli is class act in the middle of the park and Antonio Conte will no doubt know all about his ability.
Poli has never quite fulfilled his initial promise, but he remains a quality performer and a player who can play either defensively or further forward from the centre of the park.
The Milan man would be an astute bit of business by Conte if he could snap him up.
Sami Khedira

One place Conte might choose to look for a player is his former club Juventus, and German midfielder Sami Khedira could be just what he needs.
The powerhouse central midfielder is a top notch footballer, and one who has been rumoured to interest English clubs for quite some time now.
Khedira would add some steel to the middle for Chelsea as well as some box to box running to supplement the play of Kante.
Max Meyer

Exciting Schalke talent Max Meyer could be a player who is on the radar of numerous clubs going into this window, and at 21, he really is a top class future talent.
Able to play through the middle or further forward if needed, Meyer is one of the brightest young players in the Bundesliga.
He has already clocked up over 100 games for his team, and is a full international with four caps for Germany so far. A top player who would be brilliant at Chelsea if they signed him.
