Liverpool are having a very decent season indeed, leaving the Reds fans here in the Tavern a happy bunch on the whole going into 2017.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have at times played a brand of football which has been exciting and effective, leading to some positive results and seeing them only 5 points adrift of Chelsea at the top of the pile.
However, talk among some of the punters in here over by the jukebox is that the Reds could still do with a bit more quality in the midfield area.
Adam Lallana is having the season of his career so far, but the likes of Coutinho have been injured, while summer signing Gino Wijnaldum has hardly done anything to make people stand up and take notice as yet.
With that in mind, we have taken a look at THREE midfielders who could be perfect signings for Liverpool this January…
Sven Bender

Manager Klopp might well want to use his links to his old club in Dortmund and make a love for robust midfielder Sven Bender.
Bender has an all action style of play and would supplement Jordan Henderson brilliantly in the middle of the park.
The German international would be an excellent capture for the Reds if a move could be completed.
Nathan Redmond

Liverpool have a history of conducting business with Southampton, and with the loss of Sadio Mane to the African Cup of Nations, Redmond could fit in perfectly.
Pacey and tricky and able to play down either wing, Redmond is developing into a top Premier League player.
A move to someone like Liverpool would be the next logical step in his development.
Koke

Athletico Madrid man Koke has been one of the most sought after midfielders in the game for some time now, and Liverpool could be wise to swoop for him.
A class act in the middle of the park, Koke has developed his game into becoming one of the main men for Diego Simeone’s team.
Koke would slot in anywhere across the Liverpool midfield if needed, and truly is a special talent.
