3 things Pep Guardiola is getting right at Manchester City so far this season

The Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are loving life under Pep Guardiola…

The most sought after manager in world football swapped Munich for Manchester in July as City finally landed Pep Guardiola after years of speculation in the Tavern.

The move does come with controversy, as many of our locals here feel Guardiola is now into his biggest challenge of his footballing career.

His career speaks for itself, however, and it wouldn’t be unkind to suggest that Guardiola has been a football revolutionary.

The change of tactics, style of football and adaption of players to suit his style make Guardiola one of the greatest visionaries the game has ever seen.

Four wins from four already with some sensational football is already on display at the Etihad Stadium weekly – and the Man City fans in the Tavern are delighted with some of the things that Pep has done so far…

What that said, here are the three things our landlord thinks he is getting right at City so far this season!

Team Spirit

City have had the best squad in England for the last few years, but the lack of spirit between players and management has forced a divide between the two parties.

Now under Guardiola – the spirit at City is as high as ever.

Small things such as player reactions to goals, collective teamwork and team commitment have now elevated City to the next level and this is definitely one of the leading factors in their success so far this campaign.

Should this continue, the sky is the limit for City under Guardiola.

Squad Players Becoming Stars

Another issue City have faced in the past couple of seasons is the over reliance of star players. Without Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany – Manchester City have looked a depleted side in recent times.

Now with players such as Aleksandr Kolarov and Raheem Sterling in the form of their lives, the reliance on Kompany and Aguero is no longer so undeniable.

If the two stars are in the side City become even better, but without them they are still a strong and formidable side capable of achieving great things.

Certainly our locals agree that this is the ‘Pep Effect’.

Top Team Domination

Under Manuel Pellegrini – Manchester City became a laughing stock in big games.

Embarrassing defeats at home to Liverpool, West Ham and Tottenham last season saw City fail to record a single victory in 12 games against the top six.

Two of the four games this season for City have seen them come up against sides from the top six last season –  with City securing victories in both, scoring five goals in the process.

Should this continue, it’s difficult to see any side stopping City on the march to their third Premier League title since 2012.
