Everton stunned the punters here at the Transfer Tavern when they smashed Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side 4-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Ronald Koeman’s side now find themselves sitting nicely in seventh as he hopes to bring back European football to Goodison Park next season.

The Toffees have been active already in the January transfer window bringing in Morgan Schneiderlin and Ademola Lookman.

Indeed, the latter made a dream start to life as a Premier League player having signed from League One side Charlton as he scored a sublime last minute goal against City with a pin point finish – suggesting the investment made in him is going to be worthwhile.

This Saturday they face an out of form Crystal Palace side, who themselves were hammered last time out at West Ham.

If Koeman fields this starting XI, then, our landlord believes Palace will have no chance in the game…

GK: Joel Robles

The former Wigan keeper came into the side after an injury to Maarten Steklenberg and with the performance he put in against City he will give Koeman a real headache for who to select as his number 1.

For us it has to be Robles he has looked much more reliable than the Dutch international and deserves his spot after a solid game in the City win.

LB: Mason Holgate

The young English full-back was superb and look above his years in his performance against Manchester City and rightfully belongs in the starting XI this weekend against Palace.

He kept Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne quiet so he should have no problems against Palace.

CB: Ramiro Funes Mori

The heated 25-year-old Argentine defender was solid against City and kept his cool throughout the game.

He had a level head and when he has that he’s a superb centre-back but he will have his work cut out with Christian Benteke – if he plays as he has done recently, though, then he will have no problems what so ever!

CB: Ashley Williams

The former Swansea City captain has been a superb addition to the Everton back line.

His experience has been vital to the younger defenders around him and not only that he has been the defender we have come accustomed to seeing.

RB: Seamus Coleman

A very consistent right-back and has been superb for the Toffee’s this campaign as he seems to always be!

A very consistent player and when fit will always be their first choice right-back – no arguments here!

CDM: Gareth Barry

It was clear that Schneiderlin was brought in to replace Barry as he isn’t getting any younger.

Despite his age, though, he still seems to be able to perform at the very top level and he will surely be in the set up in the latter stages of the season.

LM: Leighton Baines

The left-back featured further up the field against City and it worked well for Koeman’s side.

Baines loves to get forward as he has shown as a left-back for so many years.

CM: Tom Davies

The young midfielder scored a superb goal and had an all round great performance against Manchester City.

He could well be the next in a long line of great young talents to come straight from the youth ranks at Everton to become a star.

CM: Ross Barkley

Under the cosh at times this season, Barkley looked decent last time out and deserves a run in the starting eleven that’s for sure.

Still only 22-years-old, he has a lot to learn to become a world class player that everyone knows that he is capable of becoming.

He can cause problems for the Palace defence this Saturday along with Romelu Lukaku.

RM: Kevin Mirallas

His build up play was vital for Everton as they defeated City 4-0 at the weekend and he even grabbed himself a goal.

Mirallas looks like the player signed by Everton as opposed to the shadow of a player we saw under Roberto Martinez last season.

ST: Romelu Lukaku

Not much more than can be said about the big man more than everyone already knows!

He scores all the time and is vital as Everton push for Europa League football this season. Still very young and it’ll be hard for Everton to keep him but whilst he is their player and fit he will always be a star player. As Lookman breaks into the first team the duo could be deadly for the Toffees!
