Our West Ham fans are actually feeling positive here in the Transfer Tavern right now despite not having won in a while.

That’s because despite drawing at Old Trafford and losing in the last minutes at White Hart Lane, Slaven Bilic’s men have actually performed admirably well.

The Hammers were the better team for much of the game against Spurs and really should have won the game before losing their minds in the last few minutes.

Then, against Manchester United, they again hit the front early on through Diafra Sakho before being pegged back but they showed better resolve to hold on to a well-deserved point.

It’s that fighting spirit they will once again have to show against Arsenal this weekend as they look to finally get their season truly going.

GK: Darren Randolph

The number 2 is gradually becoming the number 1. Randolph has impressed since replacing Adrian and deserves to start here.

RB: Angelo Ogbonna

West Ham still need a more orthodox right-back but whilst that is for January, Ogbonna should be asked to fill in. Expect him to try and play it safe against the Gunners.

CB: Winston Reid

Reid was banned for the game against United but there’s no doubt he’ll be back in the side. He’s the Hammers best defender and will need to be on top form.

CB: James Collins

The Welshman did a decent enough job last time out against Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the league. He’ll need to do just the same against an equally as threatening Arsenal front line.

LB: Aaron Cresswell

The left-back has arguably been one of West Ham’s best players since his return from injury. He flies up and down the left and gives opponent right backs a lot to think about.

CDM: Cheikhou Kouyate

Cheikhou Kouyate

Kouyate has been employed all over the place so far this season but should revert back to the defensive midfield area for this one. He’ll need to keep the likes of Mesut Ozil quiet.

CDM: Mark Noble

Noble hassled Paul Pogba all game last weekend at Old Trafford and he’ll have to put a similar shift in against the Gunners. He’ll need to get on the ball and dictate the play too.

RAM: Michail Antonio

Antonio has been another of West Ham’s stars this season and his aerial threat will be a real test of the Gunners’ defence. Expect plenty of lofted crosses into the box, then.

CAM: Dimitri Payet

Payet is always going to be a threat and this is where the Hammers need him most. If the club are to beat Arsenal, the Frenchman will likely be at the heart of it.

LAM: Manuel Lanzini

The Argentine has been on and off this season and so Hammers fans will be expecting him to perform against Arsenal. He needs to find that consistency to make himself a truly top player.
