4-2-3-1: If Wenger picks this Arsenal XI, they’ll seriously cause Man City damage on Sunday

To say the Arsenal fans in the the Transfer Tavern are divided is a massive understatement and our landlord is struggling to keep the peace.

Arsene Wenger’s future is a constant topic in the Transfer Tavern, and his side’s recent form has not helped him in regards to easing the pressure coming from the vocal Gunners in the Tranfer Tavern.

Our landlord has pointed towards all the good Wenger has done for the club, but it seems to be falling on deaf ears as the demands for success are currently at an all time high at the Emirates.

Furthermore, a crunch game against Manchester City this weekend could well make or break the north London side’s Premier League season and a defeat will surely be a massive blow in their fight to solidify a place within the top four.

If we cast our minds back to the last time these two sides met, a Theo Walcott opener was cancelled out by a second half turn around from the Citizens who got over line with a 2-1 scoreline, thanks to goals from Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling.

There is a demand from the Gunners in the Tavern that this does not happen again and many views have been shared on the XI Wenger must select, in order to present another defeat to their top four rivals.

With that said, let’s have a look at the XI the Arsenal fans in the Tavern have come up with…..

GK: David Ospina

With Petr Cech likely to be another week out following the calf injury he sustained in the defeat at West Brom, our landlord expects Ospina to fill in for this crunch match.

RB: Hector Bellerin

With many of the Arsenal fans in the Tavern critiquing Bellerin’s long hair, Bellerin must ensure he has a good game in order to avoid more flack from his supporters.

CB: Shkodran Mustafi

The German’s luck has ran out following an initial start for Arsenal, which saw him fail to lose his 15 opening games for the club.

CB: Laurent Koscielny

Simply irreplaceable for Arsenal, Koscielny will have to lead an Arsenal defence against an ever threatening City attack.

LB: Nacho Monreal

The Spanish full back was less than convincing against West Brom last time out, and our landlord expects his match up vs Raheem Sterling to be a key battle come Sunday.

CM: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

One of the bright sparks in Arsenal’s dismal form, can the Ox continue his fine form which saw him employed in this role for England during the International break.

CM: Granit Xhaka

Our landlord is sick of hearing the Gunners in the Tavern moaning about Xhaka and feels this is the perfect time for the midfielder to justify his £35 million price tag.

RM: Theo Walcott

With a point to prove after being dropped by England, can Walcott use this to enhance his performance against City?

CAM: Mesut Özil

Though his future is still in the balance, Arsenal fans in the Tavern will be buzzing to see their German playmaker back in the side.

LM: Alexis Sanchez

Our landlord believes Alexis will be deployed wide left in order to get at former ageing Gunners full-back, Bacary Sagna.

ST: Olivier Giroud

Against a shaky City defence, our landlord believes the physical presence of Giroud could be a way Arsenal get something from this game.
