This weekend at the Transfer Tavern we will see Koeman’s Everton face his old side Southampton at his old hunting ground St. Mary’s.

Many people questioned Koeman leaving the Southampton side he had built up and led to Europa League football for an Everton side that has struggled to make it in the past few seasons.

Many felt it was a money motivated move as he was given funds to improve the Everton team – which he did with the likes of Bolasie and Gueye.

Where as it appeared that he had to sell to buy at Southampton.

Since Koeman left Southampton for Everton they have looked back to their best.

Bringing in some great players, they have really come a long way since the departing and now Belgium manager Roberto Martinez left the club.

After a couple of un-easy results for Everton as they scrapped a draw against Swansea City last time out, it’s important they regain the form they had before the Chelsea defeat.

With that, our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern feels that this Everton XI will easily defeat Swansea City on the weekend..

GK: MAARTEN STEKELENBURG

Maarten Stekelenburg is expected to be back between the sticks, having missed the West Ham game and then conceding 5 against Chelsea.

Many might fancy Robles but we feel Koeman will stick with his fellow Dutchman in the fixture.

RB: SEAMUS COLEMAN

A rock in this Everton side, Seamus Coleman has held down this position for a number of years now and still, no one looks close to benching him from the starting eleven.

A pacey full-back and a leader in the back line, a great player for both club and country.

CB: ASHLEY WILLIAMS

The Wales captain has slotted straight into the set-up at Everton and looks as solid as we have known him to of been in his years with Swansea City.

The veteran defender still has the strength and pace to keep up with the demanding pace of the Premier League.

He could have a busy day at St Mary’s and will be a vital player at the back of his side is to get the win.

CB: PHIL JAGIELKA

The England international didn’t have the best of games at Swansea City after giving away the penalty that led to the Swans taking the lead, but he as the captain must start at Southampton.

Like any good pro, the game at Swansea will be out of his head and his full focus will be on the game in hand

LB: BRYAN OVIEDO

Oviedo is back in the Everton first-team and playing well, having spent a long time on the sidelines with injury.

Baines was re-called for the Swansea game but we feel Oviedo should get the nod against a strong Southampton side.

The Costa Rican defender has had a torrid time in recent years due to injuries but he’s finally back fit, and playing on a weekly basis and proving to be vital for Koeman.

CDM: IDRISSA GUEYE

Back after his suspension and was a big loss for the Toffees.

He is vital in the heart of the midfield for Everton and is arguably the best bargain of the season- with some stand out performances, likened to Kante!

CDM: GARETH BARRY

Despite his age, Gareth Barry continues to pull the strings in this Everton midfield and you’ve got to give the 35-year-old plenty of credit for the way he’s continued to keep up in such a high level and demanding league.

Alongside Gueye, he’s formed quite the partnership.

LW: YANNICK BOLASIE

Everton’s real strength comes in their forward line and with Yannick Bolasie now in the Toffees ranks, it’s not too hard to see why they’ve been so successful thus far.

The former Crystal Palace man brings strength and power to the side, and with Lukaku and Barkley alongside him, Everton will be up there as the season comes to a close

CAM: ROSS BARKLEY

Ross Barkley is still only 22-years-old and he’s getting his critics, but that’s what happens when you impress from such a young age.

However we here at the Tavern feel he is back in form and after a disappointing start, he’s looking more and more like the player we recognise from seasons gone by.

He could cause all kinds of issues for Southampton.

RW: KEVIN MIRALLAS

Kevin Mirallas hasn’t had the most headline grabbing start to the campaign by any means, but it’s easy to see why he’s still picked week in week out in Koeman’s team.

His creativity, pace and never say die attitude on the right-hand flank is instrumental to the good work Everton do going forward this season.

ST: ROMELU LUKAKU

There is only going to be one man starting up front for Everton this season and that’s Romelu Lukaku.

He’s been heavily linked with a love to a bigger club and with his ability it’s easy to see why!

But for as long as he’s an Everton man, he’ll be at the heart of their attack!
