This weekend at the Transfer Tavern we will see Koeman’s Everton face Watford at Vicarage Road.

Our landlord here at the Transfer Tavern feels that both sides have performed relatively well this season and that we could be in for a very competitive game.

Since Koeman’s arrival from Southampton, Everton have looked back to their best on some occasions, but there certainly needs to be more consistency.

Despite a slight dip in form recently they are still much better off at this point than they have been in recent seasons.

After a not very convincing performance against Mourinho’s Manchester United this past Sunday – but for a mistake from former Toffee Marouane Fellaini giving away a late penalty, Everton would have lost the game.

Everton will want to push on from that performance and give themselves a chance to go back to sixth in the standings.

Our landlord thinks this Everton XI will easily defeat Watford on Saturday….

GK: MAARTEN STEKELENBURG

Maarten Stekelenburg is expected to remain as first choice despite an awful decision leading to a costly goal for his side from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

RB: SEAMUS COLEMAN

A rock in this Everton side, Seamus Coleman has held down this position for a number of years now and still, no one looks close to benching him from the starting eleven.

A pacey full-back and a leader in the back line, a great player for both club and country.

CB: ASHLEY WILLIAMS

It’ll be a great battle to witness as two of the strongest players in the league Troy Deeney and Ashley Williams collide!

Williams has been a revelation at Everton and will look to continue his impressive form against Watford.

CB: RAMIRO FUNES MORI

The Argentine defender has been a solid defender at the back for the Toffees this season – even keeping Jagielka out of the side is a feat on its own.

LB: LEIGHTON BAINES

Baines is back in the Everton first-team and playing well, having spent a long time on the sidelines with multiple injuries over the past couple of seasons – which has stalled his career a little.

Scored the vital penalty last time out, proving he’s still got it

CDM: IDRISSA GUEYE

He is vital in the heart of the midfield for Everton and is arguably the best bargain of the season- with some stand out performances.

Been a real stand-out star for Everton this season.

CDM: GARETH BARRY

Despite his age, Gareth Barry continues to pull the strings in this Everton midfield, and you’ve got to give the 35-year-old plenty of credit for the way he’s continued to keep up in such a high level and demanding league.

LW: YANNICK BOLASIE

Everton’s real strength comes in their forward line and with Yannick Bolasie now in the Toffees ranks, it’s not too hard to see why they’ve been so successful thus far.

The former Crystal Palace man brings strength and power to the side and isn’t always selfish going forward and has assisted Lukaku on 4 occasions already this season.

CAM: ROSS BARKLEY

Ross Barkley is still only 22-years-old and he’s getting his critics, but that’s what happens when you impress from such a young age.

He will surely come in for the less than impressive Cleverly, who looked out of sorts against his former employers Manchester United on Sunday.

RW: KEVIN MIRALLAS

Kevin Mirallas hasn’t had the most headline grabbing start to the campaign by any means, but it’s easy to see why he’s still picked week in week out in Koeman’s team.

His creativity, pace and never say die attitude on the right-hand flank is instrumental to the good work Everton do going forward this season.

ST: ROMELU LUKAKU

There is only going to be one man starting up front for Everton this season and that’s Romelu Lukaku.

He’s been an asset this season yet again for Everton – a goal or two against Watford will help boost his confidence even more.
