4-2-3-1: Should Wenger field this XI, Arsenal will trounce PSG in the Champions League

We here in the Transfer Tavern have been very excited by the start that Arsenal have made this season.

They look good both domestically and so far in Europe, and with the prospect of Paris Saint-Germain this Tuesday night at the Emirates, the Gunners will hope they continue their fine form.

Despite being here before and topping a group in the Champions League, only to then lose out in the first knock-out stage, a victory against someone of PSG’s calibre would really help them on their way.

The Gunners find themselves joint top with the French side with both sides on 10 points and this game ultimately looks to decide who’ll finish in top spot.

With the Arsenal squad looking very much in tune at the moment, it’s hard to look past the Gunners, though for sure it’ll be one of the toughest tests that they’ve faced this year.

With that in mind, here is the Arsenal XI our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern feels can surprise PSG this Tuesday…

GK: DAVID OSPINA

The Colombian is favoured in the Champions League over the reliable Petr Cech who has had to take a bench role thus far.

It may change come to knock out stage but having two quality keepers is always a plus and with Ospina as back-up Arsenal can have no complaints.

RB:Carl Jenkinson

Jenkinson

With Hector Bellerin out for around a month, the much maligned Carl Jenkinson will surely be handed a chance to prove his worth.

Clearly rated by those at the Emirates, it’s a big night for the former Charlton man in the absence of the Spaniard.

CB: LAURENT KOSCIELNY

koscosta

The captain of the side has been a rock so far at the back for Arsenal and will be vital in the battle against the likes of the in-form Edinson Cavani and Angel Di Maria for the Gunners.

The French international could be vital against the French side if the Gunners are to be victorious.

CB: SHKODRAN MUSTAFI

The German has been the perfect signing for Arsenal so far this season, he looks like what’s been missing for a fair few years at the Gunners – a solid defender.

With him and Koscielny working so well, it’ll be foolish for the Gunners to change it up.

LB: NACHO MONREAL

Monreal

A play who has really come into his own in the past few seasons, the Spanish full-back if the club’s first-choice ahead of Kieran Gibbs.

The left-back will have his work cut out with a brilliant attacking line-up from PSG.

CDM: AARON RAMSEY

The midfielder has been consistent in recent years despite his critics, he could make a real difference in the middle of the park coming up against a strong unit in the PSG midfield.

A real battle to keep an eye out for, here in the Transfer Tavern.

CDM: FRANCIS COQUELIN

Coquelin

Despite having a number of options in this position, we feel that Wenger will favour the option of having a Frenchman in the midfield against the French side.

The central midfielder has had a decent start to the season filling in for injured or suspended players.

He’s still a solid viable option for the Gunners.

LW: ALEXIS SANCHEZ

The former Barcelona man will want to taste the success again and helping his side win against PSG would be a great start for that to happen.

He has been a quality striker for the Gunners so far this season, scoring in a number of games and we feel he could be the difference for Arsenal on the wing.

CAM: MESUT OZIL

ozilll0

The main man at Arsenal.

Not much more can be said, the World Cup winner is just constantly proving he’s nothing short of world class!

He loves a big game and this game will be no different.

RW: ALEX IWOBI

The Nigerian has been one of the most promising youngsters to emerge from Arsenal’s youth ranks in recent seasons and can really cause havoc when floating in from the right.

Could be a fairytale night for the 20-year-old.

ST: THEO WALCOTT

Theo WalcottTheo Walcotts

The 27-year-old had been rather inconsistent and angered many fans throughout his time with the North Londoners.

However, now he is coming good and about time too! He could be a different threat to the likes of Sanchez and Ozil to the French club and one they’ll be wary of for sure.
