The new Premier League season is nearly here, and Arsenal will be one of the six to eight clubs who will be aiming for the title this season.

What seems like a recurring situation for Arsenal, Wenger has yet to really utilise the transfer window with only Rob Holding and Granit Xhaka arriving at the Emirates so far.

However, light could be at the end of the tunnel, with reports suggesting Arsene is considering a move for Manchester City striker Wilfred Bony.

Bony’s time at the Etihad has been somewhat underwhelming, with the Gunners said to be prepared to offer the striker a lifeline and save him from his City nightmare.

The North London giants need to boost their firepower ahead of the new campaign, and add competition for Oliver Giroud, with Wenger apparently eyeing the bulking 27-year old as a solution.

Purchased from Swansea for £25m, reports are suggesting Manchester City would snap up the Gunners offer of £30m, landing them a tidy £5m profit, on a player that has been somewhat of a disappointment.

Arsenal have an exceptional amount of talent in their midfield, with considerable depth to provide plenty of chances for the 5ft 11 Ivorian striker.

Here is the perfect Wenger line-up to get Bony banging them in again…

Petr Cech

Cech between the sticks goes without saying. He is Arsenals best keeper in years, a significant step up from the days of Almunia and Fabianksi.

Despite a couple of injuries last season, he still managed 41 appearances in all competitions for The Gunners, and was the ever reliable presence he has been for the last 10 years in English football.

His distribution from the back has always been top class, and Bony will more than likely be the target should Cech decide to go long.

Hector Bellerin

Bellerin enjoyed his first consistent season at the Emirates last year, managing a commendable 43 appearances, and looks to have establish himself as the club’s first choice right-back.

Capable in defence and attack, he is sure to be making sweeping runs down the right flank and providing support for the attackers, something Bony is likely to thrive off.

Laurent Koscielny

Arguably one of the top three centre backs in the league, if not the best. Laurent Koscielny has truly grown superior with age and will be the first choice defender once again this year.

Helping Cech to keep an impressive 16 clean sheets last season, the Frenchman is also very capable at driving play forward and starting attacks from the back.

Gabriel Paulista

Who knows who Arsenal’s second centre back will be on the opening day with Per Mertesacker out for the long term, and Gabriel picking up a knock in pre-season against Manchester City?

Amazingly, Wenger could be forced to turn to either Calum Chambers or new boy Rob Holding.

However, the Brazilian is only out for 6 weeks, so you can be sure he will be claiming his position in the first XI when he returns.

For the purpose of this article, Gabriel takes the other central defensive spot.

Nacho Monreal

A natural full back, Monreal is pacy  and competent whether attacking or defending.

Much like compatriot Bellerin, he is good on the overlap and will likely pump a fair few crosses into the box over the course of the season.

With rumours that Kieran Gibbs has been told he is allowed to leave Arsenal, you can be sure Nacho will be Wenger’s first choice at left-back.

Granit Xhaka

Arsenal’s biggest signing so far, Xhaka actually joined The Gunners in May for somewhere around the £30m mark.

Once dubbed the young Schweinsteiger, the Swiss is a defensive midfielder know for his versatility, tackling and physicality, while boasting a hugely impressive passing range.

You can be sure to see him protecting the back four, whilst allowing the other midfielders to support Bony.

Aaron Ramsey

Ramsey has really come to fruition over the last three to four years.

After such hype as a youngster and then that terrible leg break, he’s now a goal scorer, as well as a playmaker, and is bound to bag a fair share of assists next year.

With Xhaka there next to him, the Welshman will be allowed more freedom to pick out the wide players or striker, and is likely to use that powerful running style to push the game forward.

Theo Walcott

Having pacy players surrounding the Ivorian will be very important.

At City, he had the likes of Yaya Toure and David Silva providing for him, neither who are particularly blessed with speed.

Lining up with the likes of Theo Walcott besides him, will mean Bony can take the ball under control, hold it up and play the winger in on goal.

Mesut Ozil

Mesut Ozil’s presence is quite simply a positive for any striker. Top assists in the league last year, almost breaking the Premier League record set by Thierry Henry.

The German will be able to pick out Bony with ease and the strong Ivorian will thrive off some of the World Cup winner’s magical through balls if he makes the move to the Emirates in the coming weeks.

Alexis Sanchez

Wenger’s best signing in years.

Sanchez is a goal scorer, playmaker, winger and is an asset to any team, and certainly is to any striker.

His record speaks for itself, having bagged 42 goals in two season’s with the Gunners.

With Walcott on the right, Sanchez on the left, and Ozil down the middle, if Bony does make the move he should be spoiled for goals with that kind of support.

Wilfred Bony

It’s hard to be completely convinced by Giroud.

With the level of support around him he should be banging in 20 goals no problem, and although he has near achieved this over the last few years, a lot of these goals come against weaker teams.

He still falls short in the big games, and that is why the club need additions in attack.

Perhaps Bony could be an ideal option. In his first season with Swansea, he bagged 25 goals, and is in fact the only season where he was played consistently throughout the whole season.

Though the Swans are clearly not at the same level as his prospective new charges, they play a similar passing game in which the Ivorian flourished.
